Jones Soda launched their new tea-juice beverage today, Jones GABA, at the Lower Queen Anne Metropolitan Market. The beverage is the first in the U.S. market to contain natural GABA, an amino acid clinically proven to alter brain waves and increase mental relaxation and focus. It did relieve the chronic eye twitching I experience this time of day, but I'm a triple Aquarius so I can't measure how much more focused I feel. Jones GABA comes in four flavors: Nectarine, Lemon Honey, Grapefruit, and Fuji Apple. Lemon Honey ranks as particularly refreshing and none of the beverages had that back of the throat vitamin skank you usually get with such things, very clean flavors ($2.99 each, on sale now 2 for $4).
Brand manager Mike Ginal smirked big time when I asked him about his favorite cocktail for the product, "We've tried it, but of course that's not the use we're encouraging." OK, I will: mix with dark rum, especially the apple. A Mind Ball set was on hand for people to test the effects of the beverage on their brain. Here's Mind Ball and GABA in action. Although, the gamer getting his ass whooped (pun intended) by the calmly focused older woman today at Met Market was much funnier, and far more humiliating.
